CeRam-Kote Oil & Gas Applications

Problem:

Cranes are subject to a variety of harsh conditions, including constant UV exposure and salt spray in the coastal and marine environments. The chemicals that are lifted by the cranes pose potential corrosion problems if spilled.

Cranes flex to a certain extent by the nature of their function, requiring the protective coating system to have flexibility. Cranes also experience abrasion and impact problems during use. In addition, personnel often climb on the boom to make adjustments or conduct inspections, making it necessary for an anti-skid system to be applied for safety on elements of the crane.

Crane maintenance turnaround time is essential due to the unique capabilities of this equipment.

Solution:

CeRam-Kote 54® is flexible with crane movements and the tough, durable coating forms an excellent barrier against harsh atmospheric conditions. CeRam-Kote 54®’s corrosion protection, sliding abrasion property and impact resistance are also advantages in this application. Its fast, spray applied, one-coat, two pass system with no extra time needed for the anti-skid means less downtime for the equipment.

One of the reasons a major crane manufacturer used CeRam-Kote 54® was because turnaround time on rental units was cut by one week.
