CeRam-Kote Marine Applications
Sea Express | Motor Lifeboat Grumman | Albatross Flying Boat | Catalina Flying Boat Marine Hull
Land Jet Water Intake Tubes | Self Propelled Barge | Navigation Pylons
Problem:
The "WUAYTHA" self-propelled barge works between the shore and the many drilling and production rigs on Lake Maracaibo. The boat owner, Naval Inspection Technical Services, C.A. (NITESCA) was needing a coating that could withstand the highly corrosive Lake Maracaibo waters.
Solution:
NITESCA selected CeRam-Kote 54® for its superior corrosion protection, low water vapor transmission rate and its fast, easy spray application. 280 gallons (1,060 liters) of CeRam-Kote 54® were used on the 175 ton steel vessel that is 110 ft long, 34 ft wide and 10 ft deep (33.5 x 10.4 x 3 meters) and is propelled by two caterpillar D-353 marine engines. The vessel has a carrying capacity of 600 tons of liquids and/or solids.
Application was completed within two months. NITESCA used their own applicator with supervision by CeRam-Kote 54® Distributor, Watbro, C.A. The tanks were coated internally with CeRam-Kote 54® ABR white while external parts were coated with CeRam-Kote 54® ABR gray.
Result:
NITESCA’s Director General, Luis A. Santos was very pleased with the job and commented he intends to coat two other barges and three tug boats with CeRam-Kote 54® in the near future.
